RAWALPINDI: The government has released Rs24.1 billion for work related to development in six districts of Rawalpindi Division.

This was revealed in a meeting chaired by Commissioner Saqib Manan held to review the ongoing development projects in the division. The meeting was held at the commissioner’s office and was attended by Deputy Commissioner (Rawalpindi) Shoaib Ali, Deputy Commissioner (Attock) Hasan Cheema, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Murree) Ahmad Hasan Ranjha and other senior officials.

The commissioner directed all deputy commissioners to take a detailed review of the ongoing development schemes in their respective districts to ensure that there is no need for additional allocation in any scheme.

He further said out of the total 558 development schemes across the division, 403 projects were ongoing while 155 were new projects for which funds of Rs24.1 billion had been released.

He said the welfare of the people was our first priority, adding that no compromise should be made on the quality of projects and they should be regularly monitored.

He asked officials concerned to visit the site on a regular basis and update the commissioner’s office about the progress of all schemes.Likewise, all officials of the division should make themselves at home with the Smart Monitoring of Development Projects application and ensure that data of their scheme is updated regularly, he said, adding that once completed, these projects will bring relief for people in the division.

On this occasion, while giving details about existing schemes in Rawalpindi Division, the director (development) said that under the annual scheme programme (2022-23), District Rawalpindi has 217 schemes, 47 schemes of Attock, 49 schemes of Chakwal, 57 schemes of Jhelum and 33 schemes of Talagang.

Most of these schemes are related to schools, health, water and sanitation, public health, highways and local government.

Along with this, all officials across the division are updating progress of various schemes by using smart monitoring of the development project application.

This record can be checked at any time and everywhere and this will also strengthen the monitoring mechanism.
