LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf central Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid has announced filing a petition against the inhumane torture unleashed on septuagenarian Senator Azam Swati with the Supreme Court Lahore registry on Thursday (today).

Condemning PDM leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his insulting tirade against womenfolk, Dr Rashid announced lodging an FIR [first information report] against him.

Flanked by PTI’s women leaders at a news conference, Dr Rashid warned the federal government that the day the women of Pakistan would come out, it would not be able to stop them. She said the ‘fascist’ federal government was continuing with its ‘oppression’ and strongly condemned humiliation as the senator’s wife was disrespected.

“We request the courts of Pakistan to provide justice against the oppression committed against Swati and his family members,” she said and added that the history would never forgive those who posted the obscene video on social media. She said there was a strong reaction from women from all over the country against making the Azam Swati’s home video viral.

Answering questions from media persons, Dr Rashid said all PTI parliamentarians were standing with Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve provincial assemblies.

She said the rumours about Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Lahore only implied that he was coming to ‘buy and sell’ MNAs and MPAs.

She said as soon as the general election dates are announced, Pakistan would start experiencing economic stability.
