Two die in road accident

ISLAMABAD: Two women were killed while another was injured after being hit by a speeding police vehicle, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Suria Bibi and Alia (7), they said, adding that the driver of the police vehicle, a constable, was arrested after registration of a case on charges under the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The constable is stationed with the Crisis Response Team of the capital police. He was driving a police mobile on Srinagar Highway, they said, adding that a group of four women were crossing the highway when the police mobile van hit them.

As a result, three of them sustained injuries and two died on the spot, the police said, adding that later the bodies and injured were shifted to the hospital where medical assistance was given to the injured.
