PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Health Chairperson MPA Rehana Ismail on Monday said that steps were underway to legalise all the aesthetic health centres in the province to prevent diseases that were frequently caused due to illegal and substandard healthcare units.

Presiding over a meeting, she said responsibilities had been assigned to the law and industries departments to brief the legislators on consumer products.

She thanked MPA Shagufta Malik for raising her voice on the floor of the house and stressed regular monitoring of all the aesthetic centres, including beauty centres, parlors and hair transplant centres by the provincial health department.

Ms Ismail directed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and the Peshawar deputy commissioner to organise inspections of these centres by the members of the standing committee.
