KARACHI: An angry mob lynched two suspected robbers who shot dead a man and wounded his two sons for putting up resistance to their robbery bid in Surjani Town on Sunday, police said.

Area SHO Yasin Gujjar said that two armed motorcyclists snatched mobile phones and cash from two brothers — Zeeshan, 25, and Noman, 23 — as soon as they came out from their home in Sector-7-A.

In the meantime, their father, Saleem Zameer, 60, also came out of his home and the robbers thought that he was going to attack them. They fired at him and when his son tried to overpower them they also shot them.

He said that despite being injured, the two brothers pelted the fleeing robbers with stones and as a result one of them fell from the motorbike. In the meantime, area people also gathered there and they got hold of both the robbers and attacked them with stones, sticks and other hard and blunt weaspons before the arrival of the police.

All the injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced Mr Zameer dead. The condition of his one son was said to be critical.

Both suspected robbers were also declared dead. Their identity could not be ascertained till late in the night.

The police recovered one pistol and motorbike from their custody.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said that the post-mortem of the muggers, aged between 35 and 45 years, suggested that they got injuries of varying sizes.

She said the deceased citizen sustained a fatal gunshot wounds in the head. She said his son Noman was in critical condition as he sustained a bullet wound in the chest.

She said Zeeshan, the second son, was shot in the right forearm and his condition was stable.
