RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: People have a right to take out peaceful demonstrations. These protests are, in fact, part of a democratic setup. However, it is often seen in Pakistan that the protestors take the law in their hands, damage state property and indulge in scuffles with the deployed officials. This causes nothing but chaos and anarchy. The right to hold protest comes with due responsibility as a law-abiding citizen of the country.

FORENSIC CELL: Amid rising crime-related violence, adopting efficient investigation-cum-controlling strategies has become inevitable. A forensic cell at the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) may allow it to conduct DNA tests of all the citizens applying for CNICs, and keep the record for online use. This, in return, will give easy access to investigators in need of relevant data when required. This will make it quicker and easier to track criminals.

UNIVERSITY NEEDED: The people of Kalat are bereft of such a basic facility as education, and are still living in the dark ages. While the world is acquiring 5G internet and competing in terms of controlling space, Kalat is still striving to have a university where students may acquire higher education. All campaigns and voices demanding a university in the city have fallen on deaf ears of all the relevant authorities. One wonders what it will take for the authorities to wake up from their rather deep and extended slumber.

WITHOUT A PENNY: Imagine the misery of an employee or trainee surviving without a single penny for months, and, in some cases, years. Miserable, right? This description fits the scenario in which all trainees have been working in hospitals across Balochistan. They have not been paid for months, and when they complain every now and then, all that the authorities do is to placate them with the intention of putting the issue once again on back burner. The authorities should look into this.

If this new technocratic setup proves to be successful and efficient, it might just end up increasing centralisation of decision-making.
