A day before the PTI’s long march is set to resume, the Islamabad police said in a tweet that there was a complete ban on carrying weapons, even licenced ones.

In a series of tweets, the capital police said that ban would remain in place for the next two months, adding that political rallies would only be staged on the approved route.

“Any violation in the routes will result in arrest and legal action. Traffic routes will be kept open”

The capital city police highlighted that check points would also be set up in some areas to avert any threat of terrorism.

“Faizabad and 9th Avenue/IJP Junction will remain closed for entry into Rawalpindi from Islamabad. Alternate routes will be kept open for traffic,” Islamabad police said as it urged the public to call the 15 helpline in case of emergency.
