Greguol dazzles at Polo Cup

LAHORE: Newage Cables/Master Paints qualified for the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Aibak Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Tuesday.

The first match of the day proved a thriller, where New­age Cables/Master Paints edged past Diamond Paints/Sheikhoo Steel 9½-9 due to a lion’s share of eight goals from Juan Cruz Greguol.

The remaining one goal was produced by Alman Jalil Azam.

Nicolas Antinori gave tough time to the winning team as he converted five goals for the losing side. His team-mate Mir Huzaifa Ahmed scored a beautiful brace while Omer Asjad Malhi and Usman Aziz Anwar got one each.

Meanwhile, a superb six-goal effort by Amirreza Behboudi and Agha Musa Ali Khan’s hat-trick helped Platinum Homes beat Guard Rice 9-7.

For the losing team, Taimur Ali Malik smashed three goals while Saqib Khan Khakwani and Hamza Ejaz added two goals each.
