PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Region Women Games 2022 got underway at Tahamas Football Stadium here on Tuesday.

Over 400 players from Swat, Mardan, Swabi and Peshawar regions competed in table tennis, tug-of-war, athletics and volleyball events on the first day. The games have been organised under the aegis of regional and district sports offices.

District sports officer, Peshawar, Gul Rukh welcomed all the guests. She also thanked deputy commissioner Shafiullah Khan and director general sports Khalid Khan for extending all-out support in that regard.

During the opening ceremony, little girls presented a beautiful tableau and received applause from the participants.

On the occasion, additional deputy commissioner, relief, Imran Khan said the government was encouraging females to participate in games. He said due to these efforts more players were coming to the national and international level. He said female athletes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also shining the name of Pakistan in various games at the national and international levels.
