SOUTH WAZIRISTAN/CHARSADDA: Two police officials were martyred in separate attacks, officials said on Saturday.

A police official was martyred in a terrorist attack on a police station in Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan tribal district on Friday night.

Officials said the terrorists fired rockets at the police station near the Afghan border, which resulted in the martyrdom of moharrar (investigating officer) Fazal Malik. This was the third attack on the police station in Azam Warsak area near the Wana town.

Meanwhile, a police constable was martyred when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on him in Muftiabad locality of Tarangzai in Charsadda district on Saturday.

According to the police, constable Bilal, who was posted to the Munda headworks police post, Tangi, was going to the election commission office in Charsadda for a special duty, when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him in the limits of Umarzai police station. The attackers escaped after the incident.

The constable was seriously injured and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Umarzai police registered a case against unidentified attackers and started further investigation.
