HYDERABAD: Chakki owners observed a strike in the city on Thursday in protest against what they termed injudicious distribution of wheat from the food department.

The Hyderabad Atta Chakki Owners Welfare Association had announced that it would observe a two-day strike on Thursday and Friday against the injustice.

They said they were being supplied inadequate wheat quota by the food department for the chakkis; therefore, they were not able to meet the requirement of flour produced by the chakkis. The chakki owners also displayed banners in protest.

Association president Haji Mohammad Memon and other office-bearers, including general secretary Najmuddin Chohan, joint secretary Farooq Qamar and Shafiq Qureshi thanked the chakki owners for responding to the strike call of the body.
