KOHAT: Three coal miners received serious burns after a fire erupted in a mine, while two bodies were found here on Wednesday, the police said.
The police said the injured mineworkers were taken to a burns centre in Peshawar by Rescue 1122.
An official said the fire was caused by a spark in an electricity cable in a mine in Akhorwal area of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision.
The injured were identified as Attiqur Rehman, 40, Jan Mohammad, 36, and Mohammad Bashir, 34, all belonging to Shangla district.
Meanwhile, the Junglekhel police said they found a bullet-riddled body, identified as of Zoheb, lying near the Ublan refugee camp. They said the victim belonged to Junglekhel. He was identified from his national identity card found on the body.
Also, body of a mason, namely Kamran belonging to Mardan, was found in Thall Behzadi area.
Meanwhile, robbers looted a bakery shop in Kalo Banda Square in broad daylight on Wednesday.
City police station SHO Islamuddin said owner reported to the police that he was in his shop when two unidentified masked men entered the outlet and asked him to hand over cash. He said the robbers took away Rs35,000.
Similarly, robbers looted a shop in the busy Jinnah Plaza on Wednesday.
Shop owner, Qari Fateh Mohammad, told the police that he had gone to offer prayers while pulling the shutter half down. He said when he came back he found the shutter fully open and cash, a mobile phone and a wristwatch missing from the shop.
OPEN COURT: The elders of Shin Dand Jawaki area of Darra Adamkhel have demanded making the local hospital fully functional, and setting up a post office and a bank in the area.
Speaking at an open kutcheri called by the Kohat deputy commissioner on Wednesday, the elders also asked for ending prolonged electricity loadshedding.
They regretted that people had to collect funds to fix faults in the power supply line.
On the occasion, deputy commissioner Furqan Ashraf ordered steps to make the Type-B Hospital in the area fully functional within a month by providing staff and equipment to it. He also announced establishment of a bank and a post office in the area.
On the occasion, district police officer Shafiullah Gandapur directed the policemen not to harass the tribesmen carrying licensed weapons.
LAND GRABBERS HELD: The police on Wednesday arrested two members of an alleged land mafia.
The land grabbers, namely Abid Waleed and Mohammad Vaqas, residents of Junglekhel, had made the lives of peace-loving people miserable, the police said.
