KARACHI: Chup Tazia processions emerged from imambargahs and reached their destinations amid tight security measures after covering traditional routes, which were sealed with barbed wires, in several Sindh towns on Wednesday.

In Karachi, the main procession emerged from Nishtar Park after sunrise and culminated after more than two hours.

Traffic remained suspended along the procession’s route.

Taken out on 8th Rabiul Awwal every year to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hasan al-Askari, the participants in the procession silently mourned without reciting any noha or doing matam.

Another procession was taken out from Qasr-i-Musayyab in Rizvia Society in the afternoon which ended at Shah-i-Najaf imambargah on Martin Road after the sunset.

In Hyderabad, the main procession was brought out from Qadamgah Maula Ali under the aegis of Anjuman-e-Hyderi amid strict security arrangements.

The participants, including men, women and children, reached Karbala Dadan Shah before Isha prayers. The entire route from Qadamgah to Karbala was sealed with barbed wires and all streets along the route had been closed since afternoon.

In Mirpurkhas, the Chup Tazia procession emerged from Haideri imambargah in Satellite town amid strict security and returned to the starting point after marching through its traditional route. A majlis was held and langar was distributed among mourners.
