GUJAR KHAN: A woman was shot dead while another allegedly committed suicide in two different incidents in Gujar Khan on Monday.

According to details, in the first incident, a woman was shot in Tharjial area within the jurisdiction of Mandra police station of Gujar Khan on Monday evening.

The victim was identified as Azra Bibi. She was busy cutting grass in the fields when unknown assailants opened fire on her and escaped from the scene.

A heavy contingent of Mandra police reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital for medico legal process.

According to the preliminary reports, an old enmity is said to be the reason behind the murder.

In another incident, the hanged body of a woman was found from her room in Dhoke Ali Akbar area in the jurisdiction of PS Gujar Khan. The victim was identified as Mehreen and allegedly committed suicide over a domestic dispute.

Gujar Khan, police along with teams of Rescue 1122, reached the spot and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for medico legal procedure. Police said that the cause of death would be ascertained once the medical report is received.
