RAWALPINDI: Wearing a motorcycle helmet and utilising a side mirror helps reduce the risk and impact of an accident said an advisory issued by the education wing of the City Traffic Police, Rawalpindi.

The traffic police issued the warning after noticing that majority of motorcycle riders endangered their lives by not wearing helmets and paying no heed to the use of side mirrors. Though the CTP took notice of this, they have been unable to implement the wearing of helmets and use of side mirrors.

A traffic police spokesman said driving a motorcycle without a number plate was a crime, therefore, getting a motorcycle registered on time and using number plates approved by the government was mandatory.

Do not let more than two people ride on the motorcycle and follow lane markings while driving on highways so that the flow of traffic is not affected, said the spokesman, adding that riders must pay attention to the rights of pedestrians and not stand on zebra crossings or stop lines.
