KURRAM: Four children and a woman were killed and 11 others wounded when a two-storey mud house collapsed in central tehsil of Kurram tribal district on Monday night, officials said on Tuesday.

They said heavy rains lashed the mountainous area, causing the house of Mullah Nazir Shah to collapse in Masozai area, some 30 kilometres east of Parachinar, the district headquarters.

District emergency officer Ghulam Murtaza said a rescue team was dispatched to Mosazai area which, with the help of locals, recovered five bodies from the debris, including a woman and four children.

He said 11 injured persons were also retrieved from the debris and shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Sadda.

Doctors said seven of the wounded in critical condition had been referred to a Peshawar hospital.
