KARACHI: The Governors’ Co-ordination conference concluded its ... session in Karachi yesterday [Sept 26], after reaching accord on most of the 19-inter-provincial items on the agenda, including the important one pertaining to the apportionment of waters from the Chashma barrage. ...[T]he Central Minister for Education and Provincial Coordination, Mr Abdul Hafiz Pirzada, said that the NWFP would receive 21,000 acre feet water from the Chashma barrage, which would more than meet the Province’s water requirements. He said that the Punjab and Sind had readily agreed to giving the NWFP its share of water... .
Mr Pirzada said that the overall water situation in West Pakistan this year compared favourably with that of last year. He estimated that there was 90 million acre feet water in the River Indus, while the Chashma had storage of 79,000 acre feet water.
