LAHORE: Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging his termination as chairman of the Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab.

The petitioner, through his counsel, submitted that he was appointed as the chairman of the board on Feb 19, 2019 and was reappointed to the post on March 31, 2022 in appreciation of his three years services. He said the Auqaf department terminated his services on Sept 19 through a notification, which he argued, was against the law. Mr Ashrafi asked the court to set aside the notification for being illegal and issued without being lawful authority.

Justice Shahid Jamil Khan would hear the petition on Wednesday (today).
