RAWALPINDI: Police detained a man who had allegedly been employing and torturing mentally-challenged persons as beggars and took back Rs27,300 from him.

The city police officer (CPO) directed the superintendent of police Rawalpindi and station house officer Ganjmandi to arrest the man and recover the victims.

A police spokesman said the CPO immediately issued these directions after he was informed about this act.

The suspect revealed that he had been using two persons for begging.

A case was registered against him while the police will be investigating other matters including recovery of the people he had been employing. Police said that his crime was an intolerable act and he would be punished accordingly.

Meanwhile, police have registered a murder case against a police official accused of murdering his brother, who was serving as head constable with Rawalpindi district police.
