MARDAN: Four members of a family, including two women, were killed and another woman sustained serious injuries when a car they were travelling in collided with a dumper truck on the Ring Road near Surkh Dhery area here on Saturday.

The officials of Rescue 1122 said that they rushed to the spot soon after getting information about the accident and took the bodies and the inured to the Mardan Medical Complex Hospital.

The preliminary investigations conducted by the Sheikh Maltoon police station officials revealed that the Saadat Khan, who was driving the car, along with his mother, a sister, and a cousin, namely Mohammad Ishaq, and another woman, was on his way to Risalpur, Nowshera, from Mardan. They said that the victims were hailing from Behram Khan village of Risalpur.

The police officials said that Saadat, his mother, sister and the cousin died on the spot, while another woman was injured critically.

They said that the dumper driver made his escape good from the scene. The officials said that the truck had been impounded, and an FIR had been lodged against the fleeing driver.

The police officials said that they had begun further investigations into the case and were looking for the truck driver.

The police said that the bodies were handed over to relatives after completion of postmortem at the Mardan Medical Complex Hospital.
