LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly adopted a resolution here on Monday condemning the federal government for blacking out telethon of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan for flood victims.

The resolution tabled by Punjab Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said the federal government through Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has totally blacked out the PTI chairman’s speeches, even the telethon for the flood victims.

Terming it an injustice for the victims, it alleged neither the masses nor any foreign institution is ready to trust the federal government for extending financial aid (for the victims).

There is only one leader in Pakistan considered as truthful and honest by the world, including Pakistanis, and consider him as messiah of his nation, said the resolution.

It said on one hand the federal government calls for avoiding politics during flood times and on the other it is acting upon an anti-flood victims’ policy instead of siding with them. Therefore, this house demands that the federal government refrain from ‘mean’ tactics and makes it clear that these tactics will fail to suppress the voice of a popular leader.

Meanwhile, the house passed six bills. These included the Board of Revenue (Amendment) Bill 2021, Evacuee Property and Displaced Persons Laws (Repeal) (Amendment) Bill, 2021, the Punjab Seed Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, the Factories (Amendment) Bill 2022, and the Forest (Amendment) Bill 2022.

Lahore Press Club President Azam Chaudhry has welcomed the unanimous passage of the Board of Revenue (Amendment) Bill that will restore mutation of the land earlier allocated for the journalists’ housing society by the previous Parvez Elahi government back in 2004.
