OKARA: A woman teacher and principal of the Government Girls School at Basti Rahim Bucharest Renal Khurd were booked for alleged torture of a girl student.

As per the first information report, Muhammad Javid told the police that his 14-year-old daughter, Ayesha, was allegedly beaten with sticks and her uniform was torn off and detained in a room. Javid got a case registered against principal Shamsa and teacher Rehana under sections 238A and 342 of PPC.

DROWN: Two men drowned in the Ravi while bathing their buffaloes here on Monday in separate incidents.

Reports said 32-year-old Asif of village Thatta Madooka carried his buffaloes to the Ravi bank at Pir Ali Patton, some 35 km away in the north of the city, for bathing but slipped into deep water and drowned.

In another incident, Bilal (17) of Thattha Deroka carried buffaloes to the Ravi and pushed the animals into the river.

During the washing exercise, he lost control and was swept away by the water and drowned. The villagers with the help of police retrieved the bodies.
