Karate: Railways claim crown

LAHORE, Dec 19: Railways with 52 points won the 13th National Tenshinkan karate championship for the fourth consecutive time at Iqbal Park Sports Complex on Monday. Besides two teams of each province, a team from neighbouring Afghanistan also took part in the event.

Punjab Greens and NWFP Greens earned second and third spot with 40 and 34 points, each.

Results (finals):

50 kgs: Shahnawaz (Railways) bt Qaisar (Afghanistan).

55 kgs: Mohammad Abbas (Railways) bt Rashid Aslam (Punjab Greens).

60 kgs: Mujahid Ali (Railways) bt Mohammad Usman (NWFP Whites).

65 kgs: Mohammad Asif (Punjab Whites) bt Ghulam Hussain (Punjab Greens).

70 kgs: Qasim Nawab (Railways) bt Qasim Shiri (Afghanistan).

75 kgs: Kamran Hussain (Railways) bt Akbar Ali (Punjab Greens).

80 kgs: Fareed Ahmad Shahzad (Afghanistan) bt Majid Qureshi (Railways).

Above 80 kgs: Tariq (Railways) bt Majid Khan (NWFP).

Individual kata: Ihtesham Javed (NWFP), Mohammad Amjad (Railways).

Group kata: Railways, NWFP Greens.
