RAWALPINDI: A local businessman was assassinated by some unidentified motorcycle riders on Sixth Road on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Majid Satti, who had a close association with various political leaders, including Sheikh Rashid Shafique, but was not an office-bearer of any political party.

“Yes, Majid Satti was my dearest friend; like a real brother, but he did not hold any political position,” Mr Shafique toldDawn.

Initial police report suggested that the deceased was gunned down by two motorcycle riders and died on the spot in Sadiqabad area. Shortly after the incident, the SSP Operation and other police officials reached the spot and collected evidence from the crime scene. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and have obtained the CCTV footage. The body was later shifted to the hospital for postmortem.
