KARACHI, Dec 15: The Employees Old age Benefits Institution (EOBI) Chairman, Brig Akhtar Zaimin, has urged officials to settle the EOBI pension cases within 30 days instead of 45 days.

According to an EOBI press release issued on Thursday, he issued the directive while addressing the closing session of a two-day All Pakistan Zonal and Departmental Heads Conference.

He said that under the direction of the Prime Minister, the EOBI was being restructured in a way that comprehensive information would be available to stakeholders, and pensioners would be facilitated so that they could get their pensions without delay.

He said that the restructuring process in the EOBI would harm no one but make the organization more professional, efficient and equipped with modern technology.

He stressed the officers to register all establishments and employees in the ambit of the EOBI Act, 1976 without any fear or favour, so that the benefits of the scheme could be extended to every insurable worker in the country.

The chairman further said that he would try to get approved the formula pension for the widows on insured employees of industrial and commercial sector.

He said that a comprehensive case would be prepared and submitted to the ministry in this regard. He said that his desire was to deliver pension at the doorstep of the old, orphan and widow pensioners, and efforts would be made to make all that possible.

He emphasized that in this media age, the publicity of the institution should be more extensive, directional and result-oriented.

He stressed that all means of publicity should be utilized to create awareness among stakeholders especially illiterate workers and trendsetters of society.—PPI
