KARACHI: 14 cars, 14 bikes hijacked

KARACHI, Jan 28: Twenty-eight vehicles — 14 cars and an equal number of motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, the police said.

Six cars were hijacked. Eight others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Nine others were stolen.

The police also claimed on Monday to have recovered six vehicles, (ABN-524) Defence, (KH-9200) Malir City, (PL-6960) ACLC East, (DU-7481) Korangi, (KCK-1402) City Courts, and (KCD-8932) Zaman Town.

SUICIDE: A young housewife died in mysterious circumstances in North Nazimabad on Monday.

The police said that Urmeela, aged 30, committed suicide by jumping into an underground water tank at Shah Faisal Apartments in North Nazimabad’s Block-B.

The police could not immediately ascertain the cause of suicide. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

However, sources at the hospital said it appeared that the woman was first strangled and later her body was thrown into the water tank. However, her medicolegal report had been reserved till the receipt of the histopathological and chemical report.
