Dispute erupts over toll collection

SAHIWAL, Dec 14: A dispute has erupted between the district governments of Sahiwal and Faisalabad over toll collection from the Boat Bridge at Qutub Shahana Pattan.

Since the inception of Paksitan, the Sahiwal district has been auctioning the rights of ferry service. Now the Faisalabad district government is of the view that Qutub Shahana Pattan is located within its revenue jurisdiction.

A commission of the Punjab local government will be held on Dec 21 at Lahore in which both the districts will plead their cases.

ACCIDENTS: Three people were killed and six injured in different accidents here on Wednesday.

A speeding car (FSA-4932) overturned near Ravi bridge on Faisalabad-Chichawatni Road as a result Allah Din and his mother, Sabiran, were killed while children Irfan, Altaf, Akram and maid Amna Bibi sustained injuries.

A trailer (JG-5961) ran over and killed one Arsalan (7) on Chichawatni-Faisalabad Road near Chak 110-7R. On Okanwala Road, a car (Karachi-455-020) ran over bicyclist Faqir Muhammad near Chak 69/12-L. He has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition. Near Sahiwal truck stand, a car (LXC-7077) ran over a youth, Azhar Iqbal, who was admitted to hospital.

Police have registered separate cases.
