NORTH WAZIRISTAN: One soldier was martyred and another wounded when suspected terrorists ambushed a patrolling party of security forces in Mirali, North Waziristan tribal district.

Officials said on Wednesday the patrolling party came under attack in the Hormuz area.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the general area Mirali on Wednesday over the reported presence of terrorists.

During the conduct of the operation, an exchange of fire took place with terrorists. As a result, a sepoy having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat. He was identified as Waheed Khan, 23, a resident of Nowshera.

Officials said Sepoy Furqan, who received bullet injuries, was shifted to a military hospital in Bannu.

Heavy exchange of fire took place between the security forces and attackers.

It may be mentioned that security forces have increased intelligence-based operations in the volatile district that resulted in the killing of several terrorists.
