NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces have killed four suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan tribal district.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) while confirming the killing said they were involved in attacks on security forces and other acts of terrorism.

Official sources told the media on Saturday the operation was conducted in Hamzoni village near Miramshah, the district headquarters of North Waziristan. They said that during the operation four militants were killed.

The official sources said four others were injured and taken into custody. They were shifted to a camp of security forces.

While one of the militants was identified as Ashraf, the identity of others killed in the operation could not be ascertained. He belonged to Patti Khel tribe and hailed from North Waziristan. At present, he lived in Afghanistan’s Khost province. Ashraf was said to be an expert on making improvised explosive devices. The official sources said Ashraf was involved in attacks on security forces and other acts of terrorism.

Earlier on Friday, the ISPR said two militants were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, adjacent to South Waziristan district.

Last Saturday, the military’s media wing said, a soldier was martyred during an intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the Miramshah. The ISPR identified the soldier as 32-year-old Naik Zahid Ahmed, a resident of Charsadda, who embraced martyrdom after having fought gallantly.
