SWABI: The outbreak of lumpy skin disease has killed dozens of cattle in Swabi district, veterinary staff and farmers said on Saturday as the livestock department has constituted mobile teams for vaccination of animals.

Livestock officials said the lumpy skin spread from one animal to another and advised the cattle-keepers to take precautionary measures.

They asked them to contact the livestock staff as soon as they noticed signs of the disease in their animals.

They said vaccine for the disease was very expensive in the open market, adding vaccination teams had been deployed on all internal and external routes of the district to vaccinate the cattle.

The teams would also visit villages.

BOY KILLED: An 18-year-old boy was killed by a friend in Maneri Payyan village over a petty issue, the police said on Saturday.They identified the victim as Aamir Khan.

The police arrested the suspected killer, Mir Zaman, after registering an FIR against him.
