NAROWAL: Two brothers succumbed to their wounds they suffered allegedly during a fight over children’s quarrel at Tharpal village on Saturday.

According to the FIR, children of Ilyas Masih, a resident of Tharpal village, had a quarrel with the children of Omar and Shabbir, two brothers of the same village, while they were playing in the street.

Later, Ilyas Masih and Danish Masih, allegedly arrived there with seven armed men and started beating Omar, 28, and Shabbir, 30. The attackers critically injured the brothers with a sharp-edged weapon and escaped.

On being called by locals, a Rescue 1122 team rushed to the spot and provided first aid to the injured. They were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, where both of them succumbed to their injuries.

Raia Khas police have registered an FIR against nine suspects, including Danish and Ilyas, on the complaint of Rashid Ahmed, a relative of the deceased men.

According to spokesman for the district police, District Police Officer Asad Sarfraz Khan, taking immediate notice of the double murder, formed three teams headed by the deputy superintendent of police concerned for the arrest of the suspects.
