KARACHI: A suspected robber was lynched and his accomplice wounded by an angry mob in the Korangi area on Monday, police said.

Area SHO Zahid Lodhi said that two armed muggers on a motorcycle were looting a citizen on a main road in Korangi when an unknown car driver saw their activity, hit them with his vehicle and fled.

He said that both the suspects fell and area residents gathered there and got hold of them. They subjected them to a severe beating before the arrival of police.

They were brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced one of them dead on arrival, said Dr Summaiya Syed, additional police surgeon of the JPMC.

The deceased was identified as Haseeb, 24. The wounded suspect was identified as Ghulam Nabi, 22.

The SHO claimed that two cell phones they snatched from citizens within the remit of the Zaman Town police station were recovered from their custody.
