SWAT: An anti-terrorism court on Friday sentenced an Afghan national to 14 years of imprisonment for possessing a large quantity of explosives.

Malakand Division’s Anti-Terrorism Court-II, Swat, Judge Farid Khan Alizai announced the verdict against Aftab, a resident of Nuristan province of Afghanistan under section 7(ff) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

The convict, reportedly belonging to a banned organisation, was arrested by the Chitral police on April 15, 2021, in Darosh area with explosives, including 21,850 meters of safety fuse and 1,911 pieces of dynamite, which he wanted to use for carrying out terrorist acts.

The court announced the verdict after completion of the lawyers’ arguments.
