NAROWAL: A large number of trees and plants were burnt on the District Headquarters Hospital premises on Sunday.

Flowers, fruits and sheesham trees planted on six kanal land at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Narowal have been badly burnt by the fire.

The hospital administration had started put the wild grass and weed but it spread to plants and shade trees and continued burning them for hours. Unfortunately, no one took notice of the fire or called the firefighters.

District Emergency Officer Adnan Nawaz said no call was received about the fire from the DHQ hospital.

He said if Rescue 1122 had been called in time, the trees and plants could have been saved.

Dr Khalid Javed, the chief executive officer of the District Health Authority, termed green plants and trees in hospitals a blessing for patients.

He said the report of the fire incident at the hospital had been sought from the medical superintendent.

He said that strict action would be taken against those responsible after receiving the inquiry report.
