ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s emerging player Umair Khan left Islamabad for Doha on Friday to participate in the International Qatar Junior Open Squash Championship starting on Sunday at the Doha Squash Complex.

He will compete in the U-15 category of the Doha event.

Umair, who is the grandson of former world champion Azam Khan, said he had achieved top Pakistan ranking in U-11, U-13 and U-15 categories by winning various national events.

“I want to make a name for myself in squash after watching legends of the game like Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan. I won the U-13 title at the 2020 All Pakistan National Championship and KP Junior Championship in 2021, and recently reached the semi-finals of All Pakistan Junior Championship held in Islamabad,” Umair said.
