MANSEHRA: A tourist drowned in the Kunhar River here after he slipped from a suspension bridge while taking a selfie in Shohal Mazullah area of Balakot on Wednesday.

Muzammil Rehmat was on a recreational tour to Balakot from Nankana Sahib (Punjab).

A team of Rescue 1122 had begun efforts to trace the body in the river, which is in high flood because of snow melting in the upper Kaghan valley.

The district administration has put in place a ban on swimming and bathing in the rivers, streams and lakes keeping in view the swelling water level in recent days.

In another incident, a retired police constable, namely Sheikh Sohail, allegedly committed suicide inside his house in Bazargay area of Oghi tehsil.

The widow of the deceased told the police she heard gunshots in the room of her husband. She added that when she rushed there she found her husband lying in a pool of blood.
