LAKKI MARWAT: A jirga of elders and public representatives of Marwat tribe has expressed concern over the delay in recovery of a missing varsity student and formed a 16-member committee to take up the issue with relevant government authorities.

The jirga held here in Lakki Marwat city on Friday was attended by MNA Maulana Mohammad Anwar, MPA Hisham Inamullah, tehsil chairmen Shafqatullah Khan, Zeshan Khan, Haji Azizullah and other elders.

Mr Rehanullah, a BS student of the University of Lakki Marwat and son of local businessman Haji Rizwanullah, had been allegedly kidnapped from Lakki city on Feb 21.

The traders had threatened to observe a shutter down strike in March to build pressure on police for safe recovery of Rehanullah.

The protest call was later withdrawn when local police authorities assured the business community that they would soon recover the boy.

After the meeting, former tehsil nazim Fareedullah Khan said he and Lakki tehsil chairman Shafqatullah Khan would head the committee. He said the missing student was the son of soil.

“The boy is untraced despite lapse of over two months and the elders will take up the matter with higher authorities in the coming week,” he said.
