KOHAT: The government has approved Rs200 million for rehabilitation of dilapidated roads and construction of new ones in the PK-82 constituency of Kohat.

A statement issued here on Friday said the projects included construction of roads in Jara Mitha Khan and Marai areas, reconstruction of Shahpur, Akbarabad, Kacha Pakha and Tableeghi Markaz roads, repair and rehabilitation of roads from Hangu highway to Sawa Lakh graveyard, Shino Khel-Jarwanda, Kaghazai tunnel and irrigation department’s rest house; Hangu highway to Chakarkot Bala, Sherazai Banda, Syed Abad graveyard; Rawalpindi highway to Mangal Bibi, Mastoabad, Chasma Mitha Khan, Happy Valley, Doctor Banda, Merozai, Kanj Kalay Mitha Khan, Defense Colony Park and Bahawalnagar.

THIEVES ARRESTED: The police busted a three-member gang of cattle thieves, including an Afghan, and recovered goats from them in Kharmatu area of Bilitang on Friday.

SHO Bilitang Rauf Khan told reporters that the police stopped a pick-up truck loaded with goats, and the inmates of the vehicle failed to give any satisfactory answer as to where they were carrying the animals. Afterwards, they were taken to the police station where they admitted to stealing animals.

The thieves were identified as Sher Bahadur of Afghan Refugee Camp No 3, Anees Akbar of KDA Township, and Naveed Khan of Junglekhel.

An FIR was registered against them.

CADET COLLEGE: Provincial minister of irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan Orakzai has said a cadet college has been approved for Orakzai district to provide quality education to local students to help them play their role in the country’s progress.

He said Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had tasked him with visiting the merged areas to assess the damage done to properties of tribesmen during the war on terror for early payment of compensation to them.

He was speaking at a reconciliatory jirga held in Babar Meela area along with MPA Dr Ghazan Jamal, and other officials during a daylong visit to Orakzai district the other day.

He was given a briefing on the development projects by deputy commissioner Mohammad Asif Raheem.

Mr Arshad Ayub said construction work on the cadet college would be started soon. He assured the elders that their problems would be resolved on priority.
