120 shops sealed in Peshawar for overcharging

PESHAWAR: The district administration on Tuesday sealed 120 shops for overpricing and arrested more than 100 traders.

A statement issued here said that crackdown was being carried out on the orders of Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Qaiser Rasheed Khan and Peshawar Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud.

It said that the crackdown was carried out in the interior city including Nauthia, Hayatabad, Kohat Road, Ring Road, Dalazak Road, Charsadda Road, Warsak Road, Nasir Bagh Road, GT Road and Kohat Road areas.

Officials checked price lists and took 102 traders into custody for overpricing of the commodities.

In addition to this, some days ago the authorities had sealed 37 milk shops for overpricing.

Similarly, authorities also lodged FIRs against 60 meat sellers for overcharging customers.
