SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A jirga of Ahmadzai Wazir tribe held at Wana on Monday reviewed the situation arising out of the closure of Angoor Adda border crossing for the last one week.

The Afghan Taliban closed the crossing by erecting a wall after violent incidents along the border. However, they allowed pedestrians on Monday to move across the border.

According to sources, the jirga was postponed till Tuesday morning after brief deliberations.

Taking part in jirga deliberations, participants said that after the merger of the erstwhile Fata with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province the responsibility of maintaining the law and order in the area rested with the district administration.

They assured full cooperation to members of security forces for maintaining law and order situation in border areas.

Afghan Taliban have erected a four-foot high wall on the Afghanistan side of the border to block vehicular traffic, leaving a large number of vehicles stranded on both sides of the border.
