LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi inaugurated an all Pakistan Qazi Mohib memorial floodlights hockey tournament in Bannu on Sunday.

The district administration in collaboration with the sports department has organised the event to provide healthy opportunities to local residents during Ramazan.

Prominent hockey players from across the country will participate in it. A large number of game lovers watched the opening match.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Niazi said his administration would use all available resources to promote games in the southern district. He said the area was rich in hockey talent as players from Bannu district had earned fame for the country in international events.

CATTLE THIEVES HELD: Police on Sunday arrested two cattle thieves and seized a stolen goat from them in Serai Gambila area of Lakki Marwat.

An official said the arrested men had stolen goats of a villager in Kotka Amand area.

Shahzad Khan had told the police that he was grazing cattle in the area when two armed men came there on a motorcycle and took away a goat with them.

A party of Serai Gambila police station arrested the thieves, identified as Ayaz and Kamran, and also seized a pistol from them.
