MUZAFFARGARH: The Primary and Secondary Health Secretary, south Punjab, on Saturday suspended the Kot Addu THQ hospital medical superintendent, two doctors and a dispenser from service a few days after the death of a 14-year old boy.

Fahad complained of pain in stomach while offering Taraveeh prayers and his parents brought him to the THQ hospital where only one doctor was available in the emergency ward and he administered injection to the boy.

The family alleged that the boy cried in pain for two hours and fell unconscious and no one came to the emergency ward to administer treatment or guide them about the problem with the patient. They said they eventually contacted Rescue 1122 to shift him to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, but the rescue officials declared the boy dead.

The family protested against doctors and staff blaming them for the tragedy. Initially, Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza ordered an inquiry and Medical Superintendent Dr Inamullah said he was probing it.

Secretary Health (south Punjab) Dr Tanvir Iqbal Tabassam conducted an inquiry and suspended the medical superintendent, two doctors including Dr Rao Mohammad Usama and a dispenser for negligence.

WASTE MANAGEMENT: Multan Waste Management Company CEO Mohammad Farooq Dogar has ordered that the union office located in the company head office be closed.

The CEO said he had issued the direction keeping in view blackmailing of the union office-bearers. He said they were interfering in the company’s affairs and threatening strike of workers which is illegal.

Union General Secretary Samiullah and his associates were, he said, pressurising the company management to pay millions of rupees to the vendors whose payments had been pending for the last five years due to controversy.

He said the company would not bow to bullying and blackmailing of the union. He said he had also repatriated the union officials and company drivers Samiullah, Arshad and Jawad to the Metropolitan Corporation, Multan.
