LAKKI MARWAT: Residents of Bannu have threatened to launch an agitation against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company for carrying out frequent power outages in the holy month of Ramazan.

Talking to mediapersons in the local press club on Friday, a group of people said that both urban and rural localities were hit hard by excessive power outages since start of the holy month.

They said that power supply remained suspended for 16 hours during day and night which had added to their troubles. They complained of power outages at Iftar, Sehr and Taraveeh timings.

They said hot weather coupled with prolonged power suspensions had virtually brought life to a standstill besides affecting business activities in the district.

They alleged that the Pesco staffers disconnected power supply to the urban and rural localities by dropping links on the main transmission lines. They asked the district administration to take notice of the matter and help stop the excessive outages.

TWO KILLED: Two people were killed in separate firing incidents in Lakki Marwat and Bannu, said police on Friday.

They said that a man was gunned down by his rivals over old enmity in Gandi Khankhel area of Lakki Marwat. They said that Shahid and Kausar Munir attacked Sher Nawaz and his son Asif Nawaz when they were going to their village after attending a local court in the judicial complex, Tajazai.

The police said Sher Nawaz died instantly while his son remained unhurt in the attack. They said that they had registered a case against the alleged killers.

Separately, a man was killed over a land dispute in Khujari Khas Kakki area of Bannu. Police said that Iqrarullah Khan, Samiullah and Musawir Khan allegedly shot dead Rehmatullah, 50, and escaped.

They said that they arrested Iqrarullah and seized an assault rifle and pistol from him and had registered a case against the suspects.

IMMUNISATION: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has immunised over 32,000 children against vaccine preventable diseases in Bannu since 2020, claimed its district officer Mohammad Hamid while speaking at a workshop in Bannu Press Club on Friday.

He said that his organisation had also extended support to the health department to make 10 basic health units functional by providing doctors and other staffers. PRCS provincial health coordinator Dr Iftikhar, Dr Ashraf Younas of the health department and Dr Haroon also spoke on the occasion.
