KARACHI, Dec 3: Massive traffic mess was witnessed on various roads, as traffic police closed main thoroughfares for giving a safe passage to the prime minister’s motorcade.

Traffic police deployed at intersections failed to regulate the traffic flow resulting in congestion on various roads. As the prime minister went to Aga Khan University to attend convocation, the traffic police had closed roads giving him a safe passage and the same procedure was adopted on his way back.

The closure of roads caused piling up of traffic volume on Abdullah Haroon Road, Zaibunissa Street, Sharah-i-Iraq, Sir Aga Khan-III Road and its impact was felt on M.A. Jinnah Road.

The commercial area of the city was badly disturbed almost all the daylong and the traffic mess on those roads caused severe hardships to motorists and those travelling in public transport.

The movement of heavy vehicles during the day added to the miseries of motorists. The traffic police instead of regulating the traffic flow, switched off various traffic signals, and disappeared from the roads at many locations.

The impact of traffic mess was felt at various places from Merewether Tower to Gulshan.

Two press photographers were stopped from taking photos of the traffic mess in Saddar and were deprived of their cameras. Later, the police returned the cameras after intervention of other journalists.
