NAROWAL: Four students of the Government Islamia College, Sambrial, were injured in firing by a rival group on Saturday.

Reports said two students exchanged harsh words over a minor issue. They sought help of other students and one group opened fire on the rivals outside the college as a result of which Ameer Hamza, Shiraz Ahmed, Ali Huzaifa and Asad Ali were injured. The injured were shifted to the Sambrial THQ hospital.

Sialkot DPO Muhammad Hassan Iqbal formed a team to arrest the students.

SHOT DEAD: Robbers on Friday night shot dead a shopkeeper at Bhopalwala stop at Sambrial.

Two armed men stormed a grocery store at Bhopalwala stop and held up shopkeeper Shahbaz Gul. The robbers shot at Gul when he put up resistance. Gul died after some time while a robber was injured in the firing.

The shopkeepers and passersby overpowered the injured robber and handed him over to police.

The Sambrial police registered a case against robber Muzammil Hussain, a resident of Burewala district, and his accomplice. The DPO said reading teams had been formed to arrest the suspect.

Later, traders protested against police for their failure to provide protection to them. They demanded that the IGP take notice of the incident and ensure arrest of the robber.
