National volleyball starts today

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2: The 41st National men’s volleyball championship is set to begin at the Liaquat Gymnasium on Saturday. A total of 14 teams will be competing in the weeklong championship which also features an Indian Punjab team.

The sides have been divided into four groups, the Indians placed in Group A along with Pakistan Airforce and AJK.

Group B has Police, Wapda, Pak Steel and Pak Boards while Group C comprises Army, Punjab, Islamabad and Sindh. The three-team Group D has POF, NWFP and Railways.

Six matches are to be contested on the opening day.

Fixtures: Punjab v Islamabad (9.00am), Police v Pak Boards (10.30), Wapda v Pak Steel (12.00), Army v Sindh (1330), Indian Punjab v PAF (1630), POF v Railways (1800).
