LAKKI MARWAT: The members of Naurang tehsil council have expressed concerns over shortage of water in Kachkot canal, saying water scarcity is badly impacting the vegetable fields and standing crops in the area.

They were speaking at the maiden meeting of the council held in the degree college building here on Thursday. Tehsil council chairman Haji Azizullah Khan, TMO Qudratullah Khan and officials of line departments attended the meeting.

The members highlighted the problems faced by the people in their respective village and neighbourhood councils. A councillor said that people were dependent on agriculture for their livelihood but they couldn’t irrigate their fields due to shortage of water.

The councillors said that several localities lacked basic health facilities. “The government should focus on setting up more basic health units in the area,” they added.

They also expressed resentment over poor civic services in Naurang city, asking the authorities to provide civic amenities to people.

Addressing the session, Haji Azizullah Khan said that he would hold consultative meetings with members of the council before launching development schemes in the area.
