ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s wheelchair tennis team created history when they beat India 2-1 in the BNP Paribas ITF Wheelchair Tennis Qualifier Cup being held in Turkey, the Pakistan Tennis Federation said on Friday.

This is the first time Pakistan’s wheelchair tennis team is taking part in an international competition.

And they beat India after coming from behind. Fida Hussain lost 0-6, 0-6 to India’s Mariappan but Asif Abbasi levelled the tie by beating Sathasivam by the same score.

Fida and Asif then combined to win the decisive doubles againt Karthik and Mariappan in a super tie break 4-6, 7-5, 10-3. Pakistan’s next round-robin match is against Malaysia.
