LAHORE: The 10th edition of the two-day women entrepreneurs exhibition began here at Lahore Expo Centre after Punjab governor’s wife inaugurated it.

“It is a matter of great happiness for me to inaugurate such a wonderful event that has brought a wide range of articles made by women across the country under one roof,” Ms Parveen Sarwar said.

Organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with the Export Development Fund, the exhibition gathered known brands of women clothing, fashion, jewellery, purses, shoes, dressing and other articles, including those made by hand by the women in rural areas.

The department of social welfare (Multan) seemed to have a key role in showcasing traditional hand-made dresses, blue pottery and other things in the exhibition.

“These all shirts, pottery and other things have been made by women in Multan. And the price, too, is very reasonable and affordable to all buyers, especially the poor women,” said a social welfare department’s Sanatzar official while talking to Dawn. “We have many stalls here to display several things,” she added.

According to TDAP, the diplomatic and business community also joined the inauguration ceremony as a number of people visited the exhibition.

“Over 300 women entrepreneurs from across Pakistan started exhibiting their products from all provinces including Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. This makes the exhibition unique and promises diversity of the products,” said a TDAP spokesperson. The theme for the 10th WEXNET--“WE Experience IT” highlights importance of information technology (IT) to enhance business resilience and continuity.

“As digitising businesses has become the need of the hour, WEXNET is covering a wide range of IT-related topics to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge to help transform their businesses to the ‘new normal’,” said a woman sitting at a known brand of women fashion, designing and dressing.
