PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speeches at public meetings in the run up to the local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa violated the election code of conduct and urged the election commission to take legal action against him.

Addressing a meeting of party workers here on Wednesday, PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam said the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had started holding public meetings despite issuance of repeated notices by the ECP.

On this occasion, PTI leader Malik Inamullah Khan, prominent businessman Haji Safiullah, and Anjum Nazeer, Habibullah, Abdul Ghani and Bashir Khan of ANP joined the PML-N, according to a statement.

Mr Muqam said the PM didn’t believe in the law of the land, and asked the ECP to take notice of violation of its code of conduct by the premier and other leaders of the ruling party.

Referring to PTI public meeting in Mingora, the PML-N leader said the people of Swat had rejected Imran Khan and his party was unable to gather people. “It was a flop show,” he claimed.

He predicted that Imran Khan would have to go home soon as the opposition parties had decided in principal to oust him as early as possible. “The people have understood only PML-N knew how to resolve their problems,” he claimed, saying his party always served the people sincerely and would continue to do so.
